A.C.E. Building Service, Inc. is celebrating its 45th corporate anniversary on April 18, 2008. Located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, A.C.E. Building Service provides commercial and industrial construction services – including new buildings, expansions, renovations, metal re-roof, facilities maintenance, design/build, and build/lease – to the Lakeshore counties.A.C.E. was originally started in 1950 by Allen C. Eberhardt (note the initials!) as an offshoot of A.C.E. Agricultural Supply Co. At the time, their offices were located on the corner of Marshall and 26th Streets in Manitowoc.

In 1964, A.C.E. Building Service incorporated as they began to outgrow their agricultural roots. In 1973, they added Butler pre-engineered metal buildings to their service offerings, fulfilling a niche in the community while expanding their capabilities.

Ron Schwalbe and Jim Steuer purchased the company from Allen Eberhardt in 1984, and they began focusing on design/build projects in the private sectors. As business continued to grow, so did A.C.E.’s physical needs, and they constructed a new office building at 3510 S. 26th Street, where they are still located today. Stan Johnson and Bill Shimek partnered with Schwalbe and Steuer as owners of A.C.E. in 2001, and Ron Schwalbe has recently announced his upcoming retirement from the company.

Today A.C.E. boasts approximately 40 employees, including welders, carpenters, cement finishers, steel erectors, sheet metal fabricators, metal roof erectors and other tradesmen. The office staff consists of draftsmen, estimators and building consultants trained in every aspect of building program development.

As they head toward their fifth decade of operation as A.C.E. Building Service, Inc., they continue to meet the commercial construction needs of businesses throughout Manitowoc and Sheboygan
counties, including pre-construction services; design/build; new facilities; renovations/expansions; masonry; wood or Butler metal buildings; and build/lease.
